I’m Ashley. Welcome - I’m so excited you’re here!
For most of my life, I’ve struggled with two major challenges: my self-esteem and my mental health.
When I was 15 years old, I noticed that I wasn’t the only one struggling; all of my friends were too! What really confused me was how no one was addressing the painful experiences my friends and I were having with relationships, our bodies, and our mental health.
So, I decided that if no one was going to talk about these problems, I would. And so I did.
I co-founded an organization called MOVE, and started giving workshops and directing summer programs where I discussed these issues openly and honestly.
Today, I’m 21 years old, and through MOVE I have delivered over 70 workshops and directed five summer programs. I have also published two books and given a TEDx. Most importantly though, I have been able to be a leader in a community of confident, powerful, and compassionate young women.
I truly love working with middle and high school aged girls; I feel most alive when I am being the person that I needed when I was younger. I care very deeply about issues like body image, and think it is my duty to help girls feel comfortable and empowered in their own skin.
What else should you know about me?
Coffee, girl power, and chocolate fuel my body.
I love anything sparkly, especially sparkly eyeshadow.
My friends joke that ‘collaboration’ is my buzzword. It is!
I go to UMass Amherst and am designing my own major (Empowerment Through Education) while double majoring in Political Science.
I LOVE INSTAGRAM!! I really, genuinely love it. Follow my page @ashleyolafsen to keep up with me!
I love public speaking; I grew up doing theater and have given a TEDx talk. Also, my second job is working as a tour guide.
I bring my agenda with me pretty much everywhere I go.
